County commissioners set interviews for House District 50 vacancy and approve consent agenda, including Metropark door-wrap preapproval

Unidentified Speaker 1, serving as the meeting chair, told the Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 17 that Marjorie Stromwald had vacated the House District 50 seat and that the board received a letter from Kristy Jacobson asking the board to add a notice of interviews. The chair said interviews were scheduled for Monday at 10:00 in the Stillwater Building boardroom and called for a motion to add the item to the agenda.

Unidentified Speaker 3 moved to add the interviews; a second was recorded and the board approved the motion by voice vote. The board also considered and approved a set of claims the clerk presented, identified in the record as “20Three-ninety523Dash096, 23Dash097 and 23Dash098,” and then proceeded to the consent agenda.

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Unidentified Speaker 4 urged a change to the Metropark door-wrap policy that had been placed on the consent agenda. The commenter said the version on the agenda did not include desired language and described an added sentence: “all advertising needs to be preapproved by Metropark both in content and quality of production. If wraps do not meet approval standards, they will not be allowed.” The commenter said the change would allow Metropark to vet content and require use of an approved vendor.

Unidentified Speaker 3 asked whether submitters would provide materials for review; Unidentified Speaker 4 confirmed they would submit materials to Metropark and offered the documents to a staff member in the room. The board then took a voice vote to accept the new language on the consent agenda; the motion to adopt the amended Metropark door-wrap language was moved, seconded, and approved.

After that amendment was approved, the board approved the remainder of the consent agenda as amended by voice vote. Unidentified Speaker 1 closed the meeting, noting there were no additional public comments and adjourning the session.

The next procedural step noted on the record is that interviews to consider candidates for the House District 50 vacancy will take place Monday at 10:00 in the Stillwater Building boardroom.
