Commission appoints Peter Brown as temporary project coordinator, changes funding language to 'federal grants'

The Utah County Commission voted to appoint Peter Brown to a temporary project coordinator position in the county commission office and instructed staff to clarify funding language in the resolution.

Ralph Barnes from human resources said the proposed appointee is Peter Brown and that the position is graded at 05:11. Commissioners asked for the resolution language to note that the temporary appointment would not exceed three years and should identify the funding source so the public understands how the position is paid. After discussion, commissioners agreed to replace specific reference to ARPA with broader language, "funded through federal grants," to allow use of FEMA, emergency rental assistance or other eligible federal funds where applicable. The proposed start date given in the meeting was July 24.

A motion to adopt item 19 with the updated funding phrasing was made and seconded; the motion passed 3–0. Commissioners emphasized the commission's role in approving staffing and requested clear resolution language showing the temporary nature and funding source.
