The Utah County Board of Commissioners voted on a resolution appointing Joshua Alden Daniels as interim Utah County Clerk-Auditor and then administered the oath of office during Monday's meeting.
A commissioner moved to "approve and authorize the signing of the resolution appointing interim replacement for the Utah County Clerk Auditor at Josh Daniels." The motion was seconded and passed 3-0.
A county judge led Daniels in the oath. Daniels recited his name and swore to support and defend the constitutions and to discharge the duties of office with fidelity. Afterward he thanked the commission, his family and county staff and said he hoped to bring "a spirit of service, excellence in service and innovation in service" to the office.
The appointment was accompanied by a brief photo opportunity with the commissioners and Daniels' family. Commissioners noted Daniels may remain in the chambers for the rest of the meeting if he wished.
Next steps: Administrative onboarding and transition tasks for the interim clerk-auditor will be completed by county staff, and Daniels will assume the duties of the clerk-auditor's office immediately following the oath.
