Commission recognizes former Independent Redistricting Commission GIS volunteer Chris Swenson

Jeff Baker, representing the former Utah Independent Redistricting Commission, introduced Chris Swenson and presented a plaque recognizing her volunteer service to redistricting efforts in 2021. Baker noted Swenson’s background as a GIS analyst, her time spent traveling to Taylorsville to assist the commission, and the contribution of roughly 10 volunteers who supported map-drawing during a compressed timeline.

Baker read the citation honoring Swenson’s service and highlighted that volunteers’ work helped the independent commission complete a task that otherwise might have overwhelmed staff capacity. Commissioners gathered for a photograph and thanked Swenson for her service.
