Resident urges commissioners to attend Palmyra incorporation meeting

During the public‑comment period at the March 2 meeting, Eldon Nanees introduced himself, reflected on the somber, bipartisan tone of the commission's earlier proceedings and described local plans in Palmyra to pursue incorporation as a township.

Nanees said a previous Palmyra meeting, led by attorney Robert Moore and attended by about 85 people, produced broad community support for incorporation. He said the group has obtained legal assistance, financial help and surveying support and that the community intends to manage the effort locally rather than having outside groups control it.

Nanees invited commissioners to attend a public meeting currently scheduled for March 24 at 7 p.m. to hear community concerns and discuss next steps; commissioners offered to follow up to coordinate timing so they can attend.

Nanees also said he wished more members of the public attended county meetings so residents could better understand local government work. No formal county action on Palmyra incorporation was taken at the meeting.
