County proclaims National Public Works Week and recognizes public‑works crews

The Utah County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution recognizing May 2022 as National Public Works Week and praised the county Public Works Department for its emergency response and infrastructure work. "We have a crew of about 85 people, give or take a little bit depending on the season," Public Works Director Richard Nelson said during his presentation; when asked later he said the department's roster can be about "87" employees depending on seasonal staffing.

The resolution text read in the meeting praised the department for supporting law enforcement and responding to blizzards, floods and wildfires, and called for public recognition of public‑works professionals. Commissioners moved and seconded the resolution; the board voted by voice vote and recorded the outcome as 3‑0 in favor.
