Commission approves MAG road projects list, delays NRCS watershed item for legal review

The Utah County Board of Commissioners approved agenda item 28, the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) recommended project list funded by the county’s quarter‑cent sales tax, which prioritizes new road construction and lane expansions to support the county’s growth. One commissioner noted the list’s emphasis on three‑lane and widened roads to maintain traffic flow as population increases. The motion to approve passed by voice vote, recorded 3‑0.

Separately, item 16 — a pass‑through NRCS watershed grant and related consultant work on Payson Lakes dam and watershed operations — was continued for two weeks to permit county attorneys to review the packet. Public Works staff explained the NRCS award added $155,000; staff also asked to compensate consultant work (about $36,500) for JUB, which had been engaged at the county’s and NRCS's request. County legal staff noted the agenda packet contained a wrong name and draft watermarks and asked for additional review; commissioners agreed to continue the item to the June 8 meeting. "This adds that 155,000. It's pass through money for the county," said a Public Works speaker about the NRCS award.
