Public comments focus on contract transparency, drone spray limits and Squaw Peak road treatment

Several members of the public addressed the commission during the public‑comment segment. Tracy Laws asked where to find detailed documentation for item 45 and was directed to the county’s public agenda website where attachments and contracts are posted; commissioners and staff said any subsequent contract changes would return to a public meeting for approval.

Sandra Van Blum asked what would happen when the grant funds used for school‑nurse support expire and whether county taxpayers would resume paying salaries; staff replied that base salaries remain in the general fund and the grant offsets current general‑fund spending for the covered period. Van Blum also asked about drones flying over private property; staff said previous operations focused up to property lines and not over homes.

Bryce Brady and Riley Irvine raised concerns about a planned chip‑seal on Squaw Peak Road that could degrade conditions for cyclists and other recreational users and requested clearer public access to project details from Public Works. Commissioners said they would follow up with Public Works staff and review project documentation.
