Chamber outlines Valley Visioning 2050 plan; urges regional collaboration on growth

Representatives of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce updated the Utah County Commission on Nov. 8 about Valley Visioning and related Growth & Prosperity summits that frame a 2050 vision for the region.

David Rowley said the initiative began in 2018 with listening sessions that reached over 18,000 residents and produced scenario planning that informed a strategic plan. Curtis Blair, chamber president and CEO, summarized that community feedback identified three top attributes for preserving quality of life — the quality of people, neighborhoods and kid‑friendly open spaces — and described six subcommittees focused on housing, transportation, water, open space, education and workforce.

Blair said the chamber’s approach is collaborative: the vision is a set of recommendations intended for city councils and local policy makers rather than a directive. The presentation noted a 26‑page summary, a short video and a growing annual summit (more than 300 attendees at the most recent event). Commissioners discussed posting the video link in the meeting minutes and thanked the chamber for convening stakeholders.

No formal county policy or funding decision was made during the presentation; commissioners expressed appreciation for the chamber’s outreach and noted the value of regional coordination on corridors, water and land‑use connections.
