Utah County commissioners used part of their Aug. 2 meeting to recognize local service and leadership. The Health Department’s Brian Anthony was named Employee of the Month; commissioners praised his cheerful attitude, responsiveness and dedication to colleagues and residents.
"I love working here," Brian Anthony said after receiving the award, and commissioners noted that colleagues missed him during a recent leave to care for a family member. The commission presented a certificate and posed for photographs.
Commissioner (Speaker 2) also recognized Riley Pollan of Pleasant Grove as Miss Utah County and highlighted her 'Happy Brain' program, a nonprofit K–12 curriculum aimed at reducing stigma and teaching healthy coping skills. Pollan said the program is "free accessible education" and the curriculum seeks to help students build healthy coping skills and a "happier headspace." Commissioners praised the program as timely given rising youth mental-health challenges.
The recognitions were followed by agenda building and the commission proceeded to substantive business.
