Commission approves 15‑year Neighborhood Enterprise Zone certificates for two Isabella Avenue lots

At a public hearing, Isabella Gonzalez, a city development analyst, presented two Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) certificate applications for 438 and 444 East Isabella Avenue. Each proposed single‑family home has a sale price of $199,000; staff reported the applicants met local and state requirements under the Neighborhood Enterprise Zone Act, which allows future property owners to abate roughly half of property taxes under qualifying conditions for eligible distressed areas.

The commission heard no public testimony in the chamber or by phone on the NEZ applications. Commissioner Cochin moved to close the public hearing and approve 15‑year NEZ certificates for both addresses and authorized the clerk and mayor to sign the applications and related resolutions. Roll call returned unanimous support and the motion passed.
