Board to form school finance committee; three members volunteer

A board member introduced a proposal to establish a school-board finance committee to provide focused review of financial matters and budget issues. The presenter asked the chair to identify two board members to begin work and said he would schedule initial meetings in January.

Several board members volunteered to participate; the chair indicated there were three or four members interested and said the group would coordinate offline to finalize membership and meeting times. Board leadership said the committee would be followed by consideration of other possible committees, including a policy committee and an academic committee, depending on need.

No formal committee charter or vote was adopted at the meeting; board members agreed to discuss membership and scheduling outside the public meeting and report back to the full board.
