Board approves consent items; finance committee signs off on safety netting, cybersecurity subscription and playground equipment

The Forest Hills Board of Education approved the consent grouping (items 6A–6C) at its Feb. 20 meeting following a motion by Speaker 13 and a roll-call vote with affirmative responses recorded.

Finance committee chair (Speaker 14) summarized the district’s procurement recommendations: a low bid from Artesian Sports Netting to install a safety net along the foul line at Central High School for $41,174 to protect nearby tennis courts; a three-year subscription to the SentinelOne Complete Protection Platform for endpoint detection and response (EDR) across the district’s devices, quoted at $168,724 and noted as required by the district’s cybersecurity insurance; and new playground equipment for summer programming purchased through the Omni Purchasing Cooperative not to exceed $122,000 and funded from the childcare fund surplus. The committee also presented routine business items, including a delinquent personal property tax refund to Kent County for $3,280.84.

Vote and procedure: Speaker 13 moved to approve consent grouping items 6A–6C and seconded the motion; the board conducted a roll-call vote and the motion passed (affirmative responses recorded; tally: 7 yes votes). Superintendent (Speaker 12) highlighted that gifts to the district were included in the consent items and that the district will again opt into the Kent ISD Schools of Choice plan while maintaining the board’s local 10% enrollment threshold.

Next steps: Contracts and purchase orders will move forward under standard procurement procedures; the EDR purchase is presented as a three‑year subscription to satisfy insurance requirements and the playground purchase is subject to final vendor arrangements through the cooperative.
