Board hears update on override campaign, outreach and ballot returns

Board members heard an update on the district override effort during the work study session. Presenters thanked volunteers and described outreach events across the community; board members and volunteers have been speaking at local meetings and coordinating fundraising and sign-holding efforts.

Board members were informed of the county ballot returns reported to the district the day before the meeting; staff said county officials had a running tally of ballots received. Board discussion focused on continuing outreach and educating voters about what an override would do and would not do, and on using district communications (including the local paper and new YouTube channel) to explain budget mechanics to residents.

There were no votes or policy changes tied to the update. Several board members asked staff to continue public education efforts and suggested a short community "Budget 101" series to help voters understand ballot impacts and fund restrictions.
