Commissioners approve 'Electric Avenue' after brief public hearing

The Board of County Commissioners voted June 6 to adopt Resolution 23-68 and name the road associated with certificate of survey number 3780 "Electric Avenue." Commissioner Morris moved for adoption; the motion was seconded by the chair and carried by voice vote.

The decision followed a short public hearing. Chris Wilson, who identified his address as 2230 South 40 Fourth Street West, told the board the property had been in his family and that the name "Electric Avenue" was part of an agreement tied to the sale and a prior application submitted on 10/05/2021 that had not been recorded. "It was our grandfather's property... They wanna name Electric Avenue," Wilson said, asking the board to ensure the name was recorded as requested.

Alyssa Quiros, Yellowstone KGIS address coordinator, told the board that county staff had a scanned copy of the earlier 2021 application and that the name had been requested then but not placed on the plat by contractors. Quiros said the new property owners had re-submitted the request to ensure the road would carry the Electric Avenue name.

After closing the hearing, Commissioner Morris moved to approve Resolution 23-68 to name the road and certificate of survey number 3780 "Electric Ave." The chair seconded the motion. The board recorded affirmative votes and announced the road name as adopted. No conditions or amendments to the resolution were discussed at the hearing.

The resolution implementation will proceed through county mapping and addressing systems per staff practice; Alyssa Quiros presented the background paperwork during the hearing.
