Parent warns lack of bond revenue threatens athletics and field replacement

During public comment the board heard from parent and longtime volunteer Tana Borsma, who said the recent bond and override did not pass and that the result leaves the district without money for athletics and other extracurricular programs. Borsma described years of volunteer work and asked the board to support parent-led fundraising and to ensure tax-credit donations are directed to student-athlete needs and field replacement.

"I'm so disappointed in this bond and override not passing and for the misinformation that was presented in our town about it," she said, linking the defeat to immediate shortfalls that affect student experience. Borsma said parents have organized fundraising efforts and asked the board to be supportive of those efforts and to ensure transparency in how tax-credit funds are used for athletics.
