Cultural Arts Commission elects Michelle O'Brien as chair, Christina Kelly as vice chair; cancels Dec. 24 meeting

At the Nov. 19 meeting the Redondo Beach Cultural Arts Commission opened nominations for officers. Michelle O'Brien was nominated and elected chair by voice vote; Christina Kelly was nominated and elected vice chair, also by voice vote. Commissioners spoke briefly in support and the motions carried.

Later in the meeting staff noted the commission’s new monthly schedule would place the December meeting on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. Commissioners discussed quorum concerns and the limited availability of chamber dates; by motion and second the commission voted to cancel the Dec. 24 meeting. Staff announced the commission's next scheduled meeting will be Jan. 28, 2026.

The commission closed the meeting with a dedication to Chantal Toporo, a former public art commissioner, planner and community volunteer, and then adjourned.
