Professional Standards Board elects Melita Kitchen chair, Darren Hornbeck vice chair

The Professional Standards Board elected Melita Kitchen as chair and Darren Hornbeck as vice chair during its October meeting.

Dr. Jake Zebly nominated Melita Kitchen for chair; the board closed nominations and took an oral vote. One member announced an abstention; Melita Kitchen was declared chair. Kitchen told members she was “thankful to be here and to lead this committee for another 12 months.” Dr. Taylor nominated Darren Hornbeck for vice chair; that nomination was confirmed by oral vote with an abstention recorded.

The board then shifted to a scheduled, line‑by‑line review of public comments on proposed educator preparation regulations and other business. No formal changes to the regulations were adopted at the meeting; the board deferred remaining decisions to a November session.
