The Dickson County School Board on Nov. 20 approved a roofing change order for White Glove Elementary and acknowledged a county-commission-approved $281,156.22 allocation from fund balance to replace 12 HVAC units at Burns Middle School.
Facilities presenter Mister Hall said roofing panels were short because of the thickness of new roofing material and added foam; the contractor recommended waterproofing around the air-conditioning unit wells rather than leaving painted block walls exposed. Hall said contingency funds within the contract mean "it's not gonna cost us any more money" but the contractor recommended adding time to the contract. He described the requested change as "an addition of 66" to the contract; the board approved the change order after a motion, second and voice vote.
In finance remarks earlier, a presenter told the board the county commission approved $281,156.22 from the fund balance specifically to address Burns Middle School HVAC work for 12 units. The finance presenter noted revenue and expenditure patterns (property and sales tax up; utilities up) and the board approved the monthly financial report for all funds.
Board members did not request additional funding for the roofing change order; the Burns Middle HVAC allocation was presented as already approved by the county commission and reflected in district planning. The administration said they would return with any contract paperwork or implementation details as required.
