City staff presented a preliminary plat and accompanying zoning map amendment request identified as ALME Second Edition, asking the commission to recommend approval and forward the matter to the City Council.
Staff said the property is currently zoned agricultural (AG) and that creating the requested residential lot would require a rezoning because the AG minimum lot size is 10 acres. The comprehensive plan designates the area as suburban residential, which staff said supports rezoning to R-1 single-family residential. The proposal would create a smaller residential lot (Lot 1) while leaving the remainder in agricultural acreage (Lot 2).
No public testimony was offered. A motion to adopt staff findings and recommend approval of the zoning map amendment and preliminary plat passed on roll-call votes.
The commission's recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for final action on the rezoning and preliminary plat.
