At the Dec. 2 meeting the council approved several procedural and routine actions. Members appointed Michael Smith, CEO of the Charleston Symphony, to the Commission on the Arts. Council also approved the Community Risk Assessment standards of cover for the fire department by motion and voice vote.
Legislation: council took second readings on 24 bills and approved the group (items 1, 23 and 24 were noted as amended). The chair announced approval by voice vote for both second and third readings where appropriate.
Committee reports: Community Development and other committee chairs reported on recent meetings and unanimously recommended adoption of their reports; Community Development highlighted continued discussion of affordable-housing matters and specific properties such as Morrison Drive.
What’s next: council members noted its next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16, when the final TST package and any committee follow-ups will return to the agenda.
