Council hires Kaylin Paxson as economic development consultant at $85,000 annually

The motion included a December 16 commencement date to allow a two‑week resignation period from Paxson’s then-current position as director of community enrichment.

Council members raised questions about a potential conflict of interest because Paxson serves on a neighboring jurisdiction's council; staff clarified that the consultancy is a contract position (1099) and not an employment relationship that would constitute a conflict under city rules. The motion passed on a voice vote and staff will finalize contract terms and start dates.
