Student interns propose K–12 networking curriculum; trustees offer help and request protocols

Zena Jindali, one of the board interns, told the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board on Nov. 24 that interns hope to implement a district‑wide networking curriculum tailored to each age group.

She described elementary activities focused on teamwork and mini presentation days, a middle‑school career research project that would require students to interview a professional, and high‑school career conversations structured as alumni Q&A panels. "We hope to develop a district wide networking program with activities tailored to each age group," Jindali said.

Trustees and staff encouraged the interns and offered to help make connections. Trustee Tom Cohen said he saw no barrier to student outreach so long as staff and administrators are included on communications. Interns asked for clearer guidance about their authority for outreach; they reported contacting advisers and said additional clarity from board members would be "really beneficial." Trustees agreed to help coordinate introductions to elementary and middle‑school administrators.

The presentation closed with a request for feedback and an action plan to begin contacting alumni and school staff before the next board meeting.
