Ada County commissioners approved Resolution 3148 to authorize a sole-source purchase of Caron compactor wheels for county landfill compactors after staff said current wheels last about two to three years and the county wants to trial a longer-lasting alternative.
Procurement opened bids for the Ada County Courthouse exterior handrail replacement project (bid 26007). London House Construction submitted a bid of $250,000 and Pacific Source Construction submitted $580,000; procurement staff asked for additional review time and recommended tabling award consideration. The board voted to table final ranking and award recommendation to the Dec. 2, 2025 open business meeting.
The board’s action on the sole-source compactor wheels was framed as a test to evaluate longevity and return on investment; the handrail contract award was expressly deferred to allow staff to complete evaluation and fee negotiations.
What’s next: staff will track the compactor wheel trial and return with procurement analysis; procurement staff will complete bid review and return with an award recommendation on Dec. 2, 2025.
