Dan Hake, a three-and-a-half-year council appointee to the Board of Public Works, told the Public Works Committee on Nov. 20 that his professional life is focused on transportation planning. “I live and breathe transportation by day. I'm an associate vice president at a consulting firm where we do transportation planning for the feds and for states and for countries around the world,” Hake said, describing his interest in continuing public service.
Committee members praised Hake for keeping the council informed on board matters that often occur during working hours. Councilor Derek Cahill said Hake has “consistently kept us on this committee in the loop,” and Councilor Jared Evans called Hake “a model for how citizens should be a part of the government.”
Councilor Andy Nielsen moved to send Proposal 3‑47, the reappointment of Dan Hake, to the full council with a do-pass recommendation. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote; the committee chair announced the motion passed.
The matter will now be considered by the full Indianapolis City-County Council. No public testimony on the proposal was recorded at the committee meeting.
