At its meeting the BCCMC Corporation voted to continue an annual employee gift-card program after a discussion about tax and payroll reporting implications raised by the board's CPA.
"We got a little slap on the wrist from our accountants for doing that," finance staff Crystal said when explaining the CPA s concern and the payroll-reporting trade-offs. Board members discussed alternatives including a cookout or providing turkeys, but cited the administrative burden of payroll processing and the small per-person value.
Speaker 6 moved that the board "stick with the gift cards" for this year; Speaker 1 seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. Members agreed staff will confirm exact employee counts and coordinate with First Federal to order the cards; the board did not set a final per-card dollar amount during the meeting, though some members said $30 was historically used and several expressed willingness to consider $50 after confirming totals and costs.
Separately, the board authorized a corporate resolution to add new members as bank signers so the updates can be completed without reconvening the board. Speaker 2 said the bank will likely require a corporate resolution and a signature card; Speaker 1 moved to authorize the resolution and Speaker 3 seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
What happens next: Finance will confirm the employee count and arrange card ordering; administration will prepare a corporate resolution and signature materials for the bank.
