Macomb Township trustees unanimously authorized a cost‑sharing agreement with the Macomb County Department of Roads for replacement of the vehicle and pedestrian bridges on 21 Mile Road just west of Garfield.
Township counsel/engineer (Mister Vantafone) told the board the two bridges have reached the end of their service lives and estimated construction at roughly $6 million. He said the township and county together have identified roughly $4 million in funding so far and that the agreement before the board covers the township’s share of the remaining cost. Supervisor Viviano noted some initial funding came from the office of Congresswoman McLean.
Board members clarified the township’s share would be approximately $850,000–$875,538 and were told some utility relocations and right‑of‑way acquisitions remain. Motion to execute the cost‑sharing agreement for $875,538 carried unanimously.
Next steps: staff said the project will be bid next year with construction anticipated in the summer following procurement steps.
