County says DNR adjusted Druid Lake flood map after homeowner push; legislative issues remain

Washington CountyNatural Resources staff reported on Nov. 27 that the Department of Natural Resources modified flood maps for the Druid Lake area after the county boardand local homeowners raised concerns.

Jamie (Natural Resources staff) described the change as "a big success," saying the DNR reversed or modified the flood map change for Druid Lake and that the correction addressed immediate homeowner questions. She cautioned, however, that the county's advisory resolution to urge broader changes to the Wisconsin administrative code on flood storage and flood fringe rules remains unresolved and is now in the state's hands.

Committee members praised the outcome. "I really appreciate what Brett was doing for us and the Lake Druid committee," Supervisor Pridemore said, thanking staff and homeowners for their organizing. Supervisor Mary added that the result shows that public engagement can produce results.

Jamie said the packet included a news article about the map modification and that staff will continue to monitor state action on the outstanding legislative issues raised by the county's resolution.
