County staff reported to the court that assessments tied to 2015 road improvements in the Bishop Branches area have reached their 10th year and several property owners remain delinquent.
Brandon said the original assessment across the properties was $77,000 and that the county has collected about $67,000. "The total outstanding balance is $10,000," Brandon said. Staff explained liens remain on all properties and discussed next steps. Commissioners directed staff to send independent letters and continued notices rather than immediate escalation; they noted if a property is sold the lien will secure payment.
Staff also said three of the five delinquent owners have paid their full balance and that remaining owners have missed between two and four payments. The court asked staff to gather more information on individual circumstances and proceed with written notices.
Next steps: staff will send independent letters and continue to invoice per the lien process and report back to the court with further information about ownership and payment status.
