Jason Edwin Dindy named constable for combined districts 26 and 7

Jason Edwin Dindy was appointed by the Coffee County Commission to fill the constable vacancy for the combined districts 26 and 7 following a voice vote in which commissioners recorded 15 votes for Dindy.

The clerk announced one of the names in the packet, David Underwood, had not submitted the prerequisite paperwork to qualify for the position, leaving two qualified nominees: Jason Edwin Dindy and Derek Morrison. Both candidates were allowed to speak. Dindy described 16 years as a firefighter and 18 years with the sheriff's department and said he wanted a certified deputy serving as constable; he also noted family history of service in the district. Morrison outlined military service and a law‑enforcement career, identifying himself as a corrections instructor and certified OC and taser instructor.

After candidates addressed the commission, the body conducted a voice vote that produced 15 votes for Jason Dindy; the chair announced Dindy selected to fill the vacancy and invited him forward for swearing in. The chair thanked Derek Morrison for submitting his name and acknowledged the participation of both candidates.

The election office's notice that David Underwood had not turned in required documents was read aloud during the nomination process; commissioners did not further discuss Underwood's qualifications on the record.
