Coffee County honors Alan Lindley after 39 years in emergency management

Coffee County commissioners presented a proclamation and certificate of recognition to Alan Lindley, who announced his retirement effective Nov. 30 after 39 years as director of Coffee County Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Lindley, who described overseeing disaster planning and preparedness, thanked the mayor and commissioners for their support and said his hope is that the program "continues to grow and progress." Multiple commissioners offered personal tributes, citing long working relationships and praising Lindley's contributions to county emergency services.

The motion to approve the proclamation was made by Tim Stubblefield and seconded by Commissioner Hirschman; the proclamation carried with 15 yes votes. Lindley was invited forward to receive the recognition and spoke briefly about the program's development during his tenure.
