Indiana Attorney General's Office outlines consumer protections and unclaimed-property resources to Greene County

Brenda Wilson, representing the Indiana Attorney General's Office, introduced herself during the public comment portion and outlined the office's consumer-protection work and outreach services. She told commissioners the office represents state officials and agencies, handles consumer protection and Medicaid-fraud matters, and conducts outreach on cyber threats and scam prevention.

Wilson said the office has a large active caseload and noted that its unclaimed-property work has returned sizable recoveries to Hoosiers, directing listeners to indianaunclaimed.gov to check for potential refunds. "We are the state law firm...If you go to indianaunclaimed.gov, you might have some money out there waiting for you," she said. She offered the office's help to coordinate scam-prevention presentations, especially for senior centers, and described an outreach brochure on the address confidentiality program that the office is distributing to recorder offices to reduce accidental disclosures.

Commissioners welcomed the presentation and thanked Wilson for attending; no formal action followed. Wilson invited county officials to refer matters to her office for follow-up.
