Selma swears in Jason Rogers as new city manager

The Selma City Council on Nov. 18 held a swearing-in ceremony for Jason Rogers, the council’s newly appointed city manager. The mayor administered the oath and Rogers delivered brief remarks thanking the council and his family and saying he looked forward to working with city staff.

Rogers addressed the council and public, saying he was honored at the selection and ready to begin work: “I just wanna thank again the, council, for selecting me for this role. I aim to do my best and make the city proud and get started on the hard work and looking forward to it, meeting the incredible staff already.” Council members congratulated Rogers, and the meeting recessed to closed session following the ceremonial portion of the agenda.

The ceremony included a brief invocation led by a pastor and concluded with applause and congratulations from the council. The meeting then moved into closed session to consider personnel and litigation items.
