Commissioners grant 12‑month temporary land use permit for home addition storage

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved a 12‑month temporary land use permit (LEP 43 of 2025) for William Shaulman at the Nov. 18 zoning hearing.

Shaulman told the board he has stored construction materials and a shipping container on his property while he completes an addition on his retirement home and asked for 12 months to finish the work. Planning commission staff had recommended a six‑month permit. The district commissioner noted prior code enforcement activity and asked Shaulman to confirm the materials were solely for his house; Shaulman said they were. After a short exchange about timing and compliance, a commissioner moved to approve a 12‑month permit with the requirement that materials and the container be removed at the end of the period.

The chair called the question and announced, “The motion carries 5 0,” recording a unanimous board vote. Commissioners recorded that if Shaulman needed more time he could seek a renewal, but there was no guarantee of approval.
