Council briefed on temporary Goose Creek sewer connection policy allowing 20 EDUs for next year

Public works staff presented a draft sewer connection and capacity policy for the Goose Creek tributary at the Nov. 18 work session, describing it as a short-term measure to align the borough’s connection management with DEP expectations while capacity upgrades are completed.

Staff proposed allowing a maximum of 20 equivalent dwelling units (EDUs) to be granted into the Goose Creek system over the next year, with a limit of three EDUs per parcel. The policy was described as a temporary measure; staff said they will revisit connection limits after the first phase of the Maple Alley project is completed and the system is re-evaluated.

Councilors and committee members treated the item as a committee recommendation and asked staff to seek DEP approval as part of the connection-management plan. The item was recommended for placement on the consent agenda for the upcoming voting session.
