Ryan Daley was sworn in as the Town of North Brookfield’s incoming police chief during the selectmen’s Nov. 18 meeting. During a short ceremony, Daley recited the oath of office, pledging to “faithfully and impartially perform all the duties incumbent upon me as police chief for the Town of North Brookfield” and to “support and defend” the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Selectmen publicly welcomed him aboard.
Selectmen also thanked outgoing Chief Mark Smith for his service to North Brookfield over the preceding years. Chair (Speaker 1) and others offered brief remarks wishing Smith well in his future endeavors. No formal vote was required to administer the oath; the swearing-in was recorded on the meeting minutes and entered into the public record.
Daley’s oath and the public recognition conclude the town’s chief appointment process that the selectmen discussed at prior meetings. The board did not announce additional personnel or policy changes at the time of the ceremony. The board recessed later for an executive session and will return only to adjourn.
