Council waives second reading to update cannabis sales-tax language per state guidance

Council members approved an amendment to city ordinance 20-24 to update numeric references and wording to conform to state guidance, an item presented by Mister Turner (speaker 2).

Turner described the change as an amendment that cleans up ILCS references and some wording but does not alter the city’s policy on cannabis sales tax. “We changed some numbers in our ordinance 20 24 to update it with the cannabis sales tax per state guidelines,” Turner said, characterizing the edits as numeric and wording cleanup.

Council moved to waive the second reading, a motion was seconded and the amendment was approved by roll call. The council did not indicate any change in tax rates or substantive policy at the meeting.
