Public commenter urges Decatur council to clarify police employment due process after officer-involved shootings

During public comment at the Nov. 17 work session, Lisa Bradley spoke for three minutes and urged Decatur leaders to adopt clearer, consistent due-process procedures for employment actions involving Decatur Police Department officers after officer-involved shootings.

Bradley said she has been "in this fight for Steve for two years" and described ongoing family grief and frustration with the pace and clarity of administrative actions. She asked why employment due process is not clearly articulated and questioned whether officers should be suspended while an investigation is pending when a life is lost. "Justice for LJ," she said at the end of her remarks.

Mayor Ken Morris acknowledged receipt of Bradley's emails and said there had been follow-up conversation; the council did not take immediate action during the work session. Bradley framed her comments as a call for compassion and administrative transparency; no council action or formal direction was recorded during the meeting minutes.
