P&Z holds orientation for new members; mayor thanks volunteers

The meeting opened with brief public comments from Mayor Jeanette Tiffany and an orientation for new and returning Planning & Zoning commissioners led by Matt Cox, the town’s director of community development.

Cox reviewed the commission’s advisory role to Town Council, typical meeting cadence (usually the first Thursday of the month), staggered two‑year terms for the seven commissioners, and quorum and voting practices. He emphasized that the commission recommends approval or denial to council rather than approving projects outright and noted that many technical items are finalized at the platting stage.

Mayor Tiffany thanked commissioners for volunteering and encouraged collaboration with council and town staff as the commission prepares for 2026.
