All Points Broadband updated the Fauquier County Board on the Virginia Telecommunications Initiative rollout and construction sequencing for the county’s fiber network.
"Overall they expect to build about 250 miles of fiber in the county. So far they've built 145 miles," said the All Points representative, who explained that Dominion Energy’s middle‑mile build is critical to providing redundancy and splice points for the last‑mile network.
All Points said it has submitted roughly 5,300 pole attachment requests to multiple pole owners (Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, NOVEC, Dominion) and had about 10% of those approvals in hand as of the October report. The company built its first network cabinet on Courtney's Corner Road to serve one of its fiber service polygons and expects individual cabinets in initial areas to be lit for customers between January and March 2026.
Construction sequencing will follow permit and attachment approvals: where VDOT permits and pole attachment tickets are ready, crews will mobilize. All Points estimates an average pace of about half a mile per week for underground crews and about a mile per week for aerial crews, weather permitting. The company said it expects to be substantially complete before expiration of the federal/state funding window but acknowledged contingencies (private easement refusals, river/rail crossings) that can delay service to individual addresses.
Board members asked for address‑level coverage maps and registration counts; the All Points representative said those specifics could be provided to staff and that the company will send postcards about construction 60–90 days before service in a polygon.
What’s next: All Points will continue VDOT permitting and pole‑attachment processing and return with monthly last‑mile construction updates after mobilization begins.
