The Polk County Commissioners Court received recommendations from a court‑appointed scoring committee for the county’s 2024 Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG‑DR) local communities program and approved the committee’s recommendation to retain Waxman as grant administrator to assist with the county’s application and potential implementation if the Texas General Land Office (GLO) awards funds.
Committee members—Commissioner Robertson, Courtney Comstock, Dave Sotosanti and Jessica Hutchins—told the court they had reviewed qualifications and submitted scores and recommended Waxman. Commissioners asked about prior experience and county relationships with recommended firms and the committee said the selection reflected scoring and comparable county work.
The court also considered the committee’s recommendation of an engineering firm (named in committee material as Schaumburg and associated firms). Commissioners asked staff to share the scoring materials and qualifications with the full court before finalizing the engineering selection. The court authorized staff to proceed with the committee’s recommendations and directed all followup communications be handled through the designated committee contact so as not to create a quorum of commissioners.
The court took a roll of motions and approved the selections; the decisions advance Polk County toward preparing an application to the Texas GLO for possible CDBG‑DR funding.
