Speaker 2, a Kennedale parks board member, told colleagues the city cannot currently install a dedicated dog park because it lacks space, staff and funding to maintain one. "We don't have the staff or the funding to really maintain a dog park," Speaker 2 said, adding that water, fencing and cleanup would all be required.
Speaker 3 and other members suggested gathering data to back a request: a survey of local dog owners and using the May "Bark in the Park" event to measure interest. "If you all could come up with some suggestion and have some data to back it up, I think that's gonna give us a good reason to submit to the city manager," Speaker 2 said.
Board members agreed to draft a written proposal and to collect resident responses online and at city events before taking the matter to the city manager. No formal motion or vote on site selection or funding was recorded during the meeting.
