Cultural services: theater use, public‑art projects and an approved arts master plan

Kim, Cultural Services, told the commission the Arts Center opened in May and since then has hosted 43 performances, 76 rehearsals and 119 days of facility use. She highlighted recent events, including two children’s camps, a classical Indian recital, a School of Rock showcase, and three theatrical shows; she encouraged the public to attend upcoming performances.

Kim described ongoing public‑art work: 14 manhole murals along the Greenway (paintings completed by high‑school students) and two Alpha Loop sculptures being installed near the West Side. The Mansell House exterior was recently repainted and the Old Milton County Historical Society plans interior painting. She also said the arts and culture master plan has been approved by the mayor and council and that the Cultural Arts Commission will meet Dec. 2 to discuss first‑year action items.

Kim noted ongoing popular classes — ceramic classes, camps and free art in the park at Webb Bridge Park — and invited commissioners to events and to visit the Mansell House and log cabin archives. She closed by answering brief questions and thanking staff for their work.
