Council hears update on ambulance RFP while Acadian Ambulance application remains pending

At the Nov. 12 pre‑meeting councilors raised questions about an application from Acadian Ambulance and the city’s broader procurement of ambulance services. A council member asked for an update on the RFP process and whether adding another ambulance provider is part of the plan.

City staff said the RFP process has been redesigned and delayed to address questions raised during prior conversations. Staff expects the reissued RFP within 2–3 weeks and estimated the solicitation period would be under 30 days; staff said an award could be expected shortly after the new year. The city described the RFP as potentially covering Basic Life Support (BLS) calls and noted that any RFP outcome could change the landscape for ambulance service delivery in the city.

The Acadian application remains on the public‑hearing agenda; staff and council treated the application as part of a larger procurement discussion rather than an immediate authorization at the pre‑meeting.
