Mount Vernon board approves joint service agreement to move career center into Amplify Hancock

The Mount Vernon Community School Corporation board unanimously approved a renewed joint service agreement that will consolidate Hancock County Career Center programs into the new Amplify Hancock facility starting next school year. Stacey moved to accept the agreement; Megan Bridal seconded, and the motion carried, 5-0.

Superintendent Dr. Parker told the board the four-county collaboration began more than three years ago and allows students from any of the participating high schools to enroll in programs at a neighboring site. The renewed agreement formalizes the district's participation in a single, shared facility designed to centralize career and technical education.

Dr. Parker said the Amplify Hancock building is “coming along very nicely” and noted the joint legal counsel for the county schools will execute the contracts. No financial appropriation or detailed budget amendment was recorded in the discussion; the superintendent said attorney review will ensure all superintendents sign the agreement.

The approval was recorded as a routine action item on the board’s agenda; board members asked no substantive clarifying questions during the motion, and the board voted without dissent. The board also discussed related career-center programming earlier in the meeting but did not take additional scheduling or budget directives tied to the agreement.
