Lewisburg adopts $80/$60 per‑diem cap for travel and training

Lewisburg — The Town Council on Nov. 10 approved an amendment to the travel and training policy that sets a per‑diem cap for meal reimbursement: $80 for a full day and $60 for a partial day.

Administrator Mr. Metz presented the change, explaining the town historically paid actual expenses but had language referring to state per diem. Councilors discussed paperwork burdens associated with actual receipts and suggested a per‑diem alternative to streamline processing. One councilor observed the state per‑diem recently referenced was higher (cited as about $150) and favored keeping town rates lower.

After discussion, Councilor Stover moved to set the per‑diem at $80 for a full day and $60 for partial days. The motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. Mr. Metz said lodging would continue to be handled separately (the per‑diem applies to meals). Council asked staff to maintain audit trail documentation for reimbursements.
