ATAX advisory committee recommends roughly $285,000 in disbursements; one applicant denied

City staff presented Resolution 2025‑37 at the Nov. 10 study session, forwarding the accommodations tax advisory committee’s recommendations for disbursement of FY2024–25 accommodations tax revenues. Administrator Clifford said the recommended allocations align with the FY2026 budget and total approximately $285,000; he asked council to review the hard copy materials supplied for tonight’s meeting.

Council members asked about particular applicants. Staff said only one applicant that applied for ATAX funds was denied because it did not provide required materials or a viable business plan: the transcript identifies the applicant as Gym Rats Incorporated. Councilmembers questioned whether Peach Jam would be funded; staff said Nike will run the tournament this year and will cover event expenses rather than the city acting as the bank.

Clifford emphasized the process: applicants must submit an application and a business plan to be considered by the city‑appointed ATAX committee; the committee’s recommendations are advisory and the council retains final approval authority. The study session recorded discussion but no council vote on the allocations; final action remains a matter for the council agenda.
