Business manager: RSU 40 submitted five state revolving‑renovation loan applications for asbestos, air‑ and water‑quality, ADA work

Brian (business manager) told the board the district submitted five revolving renovation loan applications to the state focused on health, safety and accessibility projects.

He said the applications included three projects at Montgomery Valley High School — asbestos abatement, water‑quality work and ADA compliance — and air‑quality projects at Friendship Village School and Union Elementary School. He told the board that the program allows up to $2,000,000 per project and up to $4,000,000 per school.

Brian said the revolving loan program automatically forgives 50% of the loan amount awarded and that there are further opportunities for additional forgiveness of the remaining balance depending on program rules. He noted the size of the state funding “pot” changes annually and that the district’s prior year applications raised hopes that were not realized; he said the board will be kept informed of the awards.

He also reported progress on staffing (custodial and maintenance vacancies reduced) and on an online HR/payroll system (Frontline) that the district has implemented over recent years to manage absence, time and attendance and central paperwork.
