Oakland County staff told the Board of Commissioners committee the Waterford Township application for a solid waste processing and transfer facility at 5351 Williams Lake Road is administratively complete and complies with the county's interim materials management process.
Kristen Milpang of the county economic development department explained the application covers processing and transfer of construction and demolition debris. She said the proposal had previously cleared the Waterford Township planning commission and was approved by the Waterford Township Board; county staff reviewed the application with the materials management planning committee and corporation counsel before determining it met the county's interim process requirements. The county will forward a resolution to accompany the township's submission to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for construction permitting.
Waterford-based applicants and representatives attended the committee meeting; staff said the county followed the state-mandated administrative steps and recommended forwarding the resolution and documentation to the state permitting process.
