The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission voted unanimously during its Nov. 4 meeting to approve the Oct. 7, 2025 regular meeting minutes and to forward proposed edits to the city's parks and facilities property naming policy to the Las Vegas City Council.
The first motion, to approve the Oct. 7 minutes, was made by Commissioner Carmel and seconded by Commissioner Jones. The motion passed without recorded opposition.
Later in the meeting, Commissioners considered redline clarifications to the property naming policy prepared by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. The department recommended edits to add the term "designee" to allow continuity when positions are vacant, to permit a councilmember for the ward that contains a park to request naming consideration, to add standardized naming conventions for substructures and amenities, and to make explicit that the councilmember in whose ward a park sits may decide when a renaming recommendation appears before the city council.
Commissioner Steven Iger moved to approve the changes as presented; Commissioner Walter Jones seconded. Chair Becker called the vote and the motion carried unanimously. The department will transmit the recommended edits to the City Council for their consideration.
The meeting transcript shows the motions and the recorded seconds and votes; the commission did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript provided.
